March 14, 2014. Christchurch, New Zealand. Gillian.
My goodness but we are having a good time together in Christchurch. Gillian has been here since January 3rd so she knows her way around. She keeps the map firmly attached to her hand so we never get lost. And she walks everywhere too so she checks out the restaurants too. Tonight we dined in a lovely little Bistro just two blocks from our apartment that she spotted while walking back from the University. It is housed in an old home so is definitely not visible from the street, but she spotted it.
Now what is funny is that Gill does everything quickly. She walks four times faster than us. Sometimes she will walk at our speed but mostly she does other things during the same time period. This works to our advantage. A perfect example occurred after dinner. We three were ambling home. Gill suggested she should go ahead to the restaurant we have selected for Sunday evening in order to make the reservation. Now that was a very helpful suggestion so she headed off to the Curator's restaurant while we walked home. Her goal was past our home and across the street but she still arrived home just a minute after us, with the reservation in place. It was a job well done.
We have been friends since 1971. If we were not such good friends she would never put up with us. For every one activity we take, Gill does four. We all just laugh and continue to have a good time together and we say "That's our Gillian". And we are grateful.
