We had front row seats, just ten feet from this new large thin television set, brought especially for the Super Bowl. Our seats, although the best in the restaurant, were not very comfortable because the chairs were actually sofas with cushions on top and back and these couches were very low. Getting up was difficult and as we drank wine and beer all evening and made frequent trips to the restrooms, we got up and down a lot. Also, our frequent trips to the Pizza table required us to get up often too. It was not easy getting up.
We had a lovely evening, sitting outdoors watching the Super Bowl, cheering for the Giants. Other folks in the restaurant were cheering for the Giants so we did too. Who cares.
I did recall, that about fifteen years ago, we watched the Super Bowl at a restaurant and Marina in Costa Rico, along with my friend Sara Lou. I had forgotten until Ken reminded me.
It was interesting. All the seats were full, watching the game, but by half time, many people had left. And the outdoor section was full of customers eating dinner, with no televisions in sight. Not everyone cares about the Super Bowl, here in Mexico.
