One family is from Dallas and have come to pick two children up from camp tomorrow. They are staying overnight with friends from Austen who bought their lake house last year. Once upon a time, all three families lived in San Antonio and met at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The children have know each other all their lives so getting together is always a special event. Of course, our two older girls are working at camp, and three of the other children were campers at the same camp so we had a smaller group. But it was a cohesive group and they had a wonderful evening.
Ken decided to stay home and David is recovering from the flu so Suzanne and I along with Allison and Samantha held up the Dickie end of the dinner party. The food was excellent. Fajitas and salad, with grapes for dessert.
Our hosts access to the lake is steep. Half way down was a fire pit but sitting around was difficult because the terrain was rocky and uneven, so they built a deck with a fire pit in the middle. After dinner, all the kids went to make so'mores. By that time at night the air was pleasant after such a hot day. The deck is an excellent addition to their lake house. We are fortunate that we are always invited to these group dinners. I had met the two couples before so was happy to see them again. My evening tonight was splendid thanks to the kindness of David and Suzanne's friends. I feel very fortunate.
