August 22, 2017. Western Head, Nova Scotia. Political Conversations.

Perhaps it was always difficult to have differing opinions and discussions without resorting to voices being raised.  Now it seems to be impossible.  Today, violent actions have appeared on the streets when parties think you are not agreeing with them.  The situation is not good.   Just wearing the wrong hat can cause you harm or heckled.  In years past, politicians could be friends with other party members.  They even had dinner together and sat beside each other at White House concerts.  But not now.

Ideas are not discussed.  When an issue arises that other folks think is wrong, they attack the person, telling them they are stupid.   Alice Anne and I are in different sides of the isle but we enjoyed several discussion about politics in the US.  No one raised their voice or got excited.  But that was unusual in the world of today.  I do not know where this will end but the situation is not good when a group can shut down speakers just because they do not agree with the message.  Twice today I have read articles about the coming civil war in the US.   Since before the Primaries, I have put my head in the sand and refused to pay attention but now things are getting serious so perhaps I should pay more attention.  The political world of today is interesting and dangerous.
