When I looked at the dinner brought to us by the caterer, I knew there was too much food, so I called our friends Walt and Mary to see if they would like to join us for dinner. They were just on their way home from Bridgewater and Mary had not yet done any dinner preparations so my timing was perfect. Spur of the moment dinners are delightful perhaps because of the unexpectedness of the event. We four were pleased to be together. And the dinner was delicious.
We have all been monitoring the storm in Texas. Harvey is a big storm and even though the storm will hit land near Corpus Christie, the whole of the Texas coast is expected to have heavy rain snd wind. In some places they are talking of 2 to 3 feet of rain. Canyon Lake is expected to flood as is San Antonio. The River Walk has already placed sand bags to keep the water out of the restaurants. Alice Anne has evacuated from Galveston, which was smart because once the rain begins, the causeway off the island gets flooded and you are not able to get off the island. And it is expected that the storm will just sit on land for several days.
Walt is a news junkie so I know Walt will be carefully watching the news about the storm. We intend to go to the cottage tomorrow where we have no TV but we can follow it on our phones. Our Texas family is ready for the rain and wind and I suspect they will stay home. Now we will watch and wait and hope.
