July 31, 2014. Western Head. The Cottage.

The cottage is smaller than our condominium in Mississippi, even when you add in the children's loft. It has one small bedroom, just big enough for a double bed with two feel of space to walk around the bed. Ken is always bumping into the foot board and wants to get rid of it but I am reluctant. We bought it from Billie, the owner of our home by the ocean, and I hate to part with it. And we have a bathroom that has great water pressure. The rest of the place is made of pine and is charming, although small. The deck on the front we extended so it is big enough and is pleasant looking at the lake. We are moving to the cottage for two weeks. When I was thinking about functioning at the lake, I could not think of a place to set a basket for dirty laundry, that is how small it is. Last summer, we were asked to rent our main house and as we usually take a trip during August, we agreed. Ken investigated but nothing was appealing so we decided to live at the cottage. The dock and the raft were appealing, also the quiet of the lake, so we are looking forward to our two weeks at the cottage. We return on the 16th. Actually, for three days the house will be empty so we will return to do laundry. The main issue is the Internet. We don't have any at the cottage. Our plan is to investigate Caledonia, but it is a small town so might not have any options. But people live at the lake and work in town so we can always come into town every day for Internet service. Our friends think we are nuts to leave our lovely home by the shore, but we both think we will have a good time. Time will tell.
