Our immediate neighbors in Playa Royale invited us for coffee this morning. Over the years, we have gotten to know them well so we were delighted to sit on their balcony and eat banana bread and drink coffee...and talk. Ken slept in, so we three spent a pleasant morning with David and Margaret. I am not sure why we know them so well. Other folks have stayed in the condo and we have never even seen them but over the years we have visited back and forth for dinners or cocktails or coffees. They own 5 weeks here where we own 10 but we almost always are here for at least part of the time together.
They live in Kimberley, B.C., a charming town south of Kelowna. David and Margaret are more energetic than us. They ride their bikes every day and swim in the ocean. At home, Margaret rides her new horse almost every day. She along with Ken is a retired doctor so perhaps that is why we get along so well. We exchange e mails and Christmas cards and always let the other know when we will be arriving. Next year, we will overlap for four weeks in January. And we always include each other's visitors. We have gotten to know their family and friends as well as they have with ours.
The pool is the center of the social world at Playa Royale but we manage to enjoy a semblance of a social life with our neighbors. Our coffee was very pleasant this morning, with everyone sharing their books. Made me eager to get home and read.
