March 28, 2016. Madison, Mississippi. Airport Security.

We had no difficulty with security not only going to Mexico and but also returning home, but not everyone was so lucky.  Many folks took so long getting through security that they missed flights.

In Jackson, even being in a wheel chair took ages clearing through security.  The machines were slow.  The bags were being hand checked.  Many times the conveyor belt did not move at all.  Ken and I always leave plenty of time at the airport but many folks had left only an hour and they all missed their flights.  They were not happy.  When they complained to the officials, they were reminded that their ticket tells them to be at the airport two hours prior to their flight, even though Jackson is a very small airport.

Going through Dallas was worse.  Again, we left plenty of time between one flight to the next but not everyone planned for a long delay.  Especially coming home, I thought a major  altercation might occur.  The security folks were not to be moved.  The number of officials was insufficient for the number of passengers.  There were only two lanes open to get through security.  People were frantic.  They were missing their flights.  They were begging but the belt would not move.  Evidently many people were carrying liquids in their bags which means that their bags must be opened.  The officials were cross and the passengers were upset.  Security was tight, especially after the mess in Brussels.  One couple had missed two flights on the same day, both due to security problems.  Unfortunately it will be the sign of the times to leave lots of time between flights just to be able to clear through security.  Ken and I were just lucky.
