I often observed older couples in the waiting room of the Doctor's office. They seemed to both be competent, but they were in the office together. Then one went to be examined while the other one waited and read a magazine. Eventually, the one reading would be called in for consultation, or perhaps for something else. It made no sense to me for two people instead of one person to be waiting in the office. Why didn't they drive themselves?
Now in Jackson, Mississippi, Ken and I are just like those little old people. Both of us drive to gether to each others appointments and wait together in the waiting room. We laugh about it. What is most interesting is that someone always asks the waiting person if they would like to sit in with the consultation with the doctor, after the examination has taken place. We always refuse.
We were trying to figure out today when we will start driving to our appointment all by ourselves? I don't know the answer but I know that tomorrow I will accompany Ken to the Dermatology office for more surgery. Perhaps next time in Jackson we can drive alone but don't count on it.
