January 3, 2013. Ridgeland, Ms. An Excursion.

Today in Jackson it was cold.  Everyone said so.  But we went out anyway to see the ducks.  But first we went out to lunch with Christina, Molly, Kate and Mary Frances.  Amerigo is a lovely Italian restaurant, well know to us so we were happy to be eating for the first time this trip at a favorite place.

Now I must admit that the temperature was 50 degrees when we four went to see the ducks.   Sitting looking at the ducks makes you cold, especially in the damp air.  Ken and I gave each other binoculars for Christmas, to be left in the car.  The last time we went to see the ducks we had no binoculars in the truck so now the new ones are to be kept in the truck.  They worked well.  The only problem is trying to identify the different ducks.  We needed a birder by our side.

After we all got thoroughly chilled, we drove into Canton and walked around the town square.   The County Courthouse is beautiful but half the stores have closed and moved their business out to the many strip malls.  We did find a store serving hot chocolate and cinnamon buns, so we were happy.  Our excursion was pleasant and interesting but not exciting.   We all four enjoyed our excursion on this cold sunny day.
