February 2, 2017. Playa Royale, Mexico. Mark Steyn.

La Vie en Rose was featured as his song of the week.  The song was sung by Patsy Gallant, a person who was not known to me but who has been singing for a very long time.  You can find these songs on his web site, markSteyn@steynonline.com.  Mark Steyn was born in England and lived in Montreal for many years.  I think he lives now in New Hampshire.  He makes his money writing, mainly political in nature.  But in addition he dabbles as a musician.  And he knows a lot about popular songs.  Several of his books deal with information about songs.  It is clear that he loves songs.

In the feature on the song of the week video, Mark talks about the song and when and who wrote it and who made it popular.  His information is short and interesting.  Then he introduces a singer who sings the song.  Last week was Patsy Gallant, who was Canadian.  She lived in Quebec City and has been singing professionally since she was 8.  How I missed her I do not know but she sang in a big hit in Paris which played for 8 years.  Mark has a small jazz group to accompany the singers and a small audience sits in the studio.  Patsy is still a wonderful singer.

A couple of weeks ago the singer was the lead from the Manhattan Transfer, who is still singing too and in in tune.  I look forward to listening to the new song of the week on Mark's web site.  He never fails to please.
