In years past, The Riviera Grill was only open for dinner but not any more. Now it is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ken and I spotted their sign last week when we went walking down the bicycle path. We were pleased because our preference is to go out for lunch. The restaurant is about a quarter mile down the road from us, so it is an easy place to go in the daytime but difficult to walk it in the dark. And it is so close to us that it seems silly to take a taxi, so last year we never dined there even though we enjoy their food and decor. Cathy and Ted invited us out for lunch today and Ken suggested The Riviera Grill, so off we went.
When the restaurant was designed, the different areas were separated by plantings which by now are mature so while we were sitting in one area of 5 tables, we were private and separated by other customers because of the bamboo. The restaurant is under roof but has no walls so the breeze keeps you cool. And the best part this year is they have new tables and chairs. The previous chairs were cute but uncomfortable.
Our lunch was delicious and our waiter was charming. And of course we always enjoy talking with Cathy and Ted. They have taken on the task of checking up on us each week as they know we are alone, which we appreciate. Ken and I enjoyed our three hours with them today and we especially enjoyed being at The Riviera Grill. I mentioned to Ken that there were not many people having lunch when we were there, but he corrected me and said that I just could not see them because of the plantings dividing out the different areas. Their system has worked. Clever.
