July 22, 2023. Western Head, Nova Scotia. A Big Storm.

This was a really big storm.  24 hours of heavy rain, thunder and lightning.  The storm just drifted around. I could always hear the thunder.  Just sometimes it was louder than other times.  This was an unusual type of storm for Nova Scotia because we had no wind.  And of course, the storm just stayed and stayed.  Sometimes the rain was coming in a deluge and other times a light rain.  But always the rain.   One especially loud clap of thunder was so loud that the whole house shook.  All the pictures needed to be straightened.  I have been here for hurricanes but never did I feel the house shake.

And of course, there was a lot of damage.  My driveway was washed out right by the gate.  The Mersey River flooded.  The parking lot  in front of the hardware was with almost two feet of water.  Highway 103 was closed as were made minor roads.  Lots and lots of basements were flooded, including David's.  Tomorrow he will begin throwing things away as he had a foot of water in his basement.  He had water in his basement in 1991 but until this storm, his basement was dry.

Th power came back this afternoon along with the television, internet and phone.  So we are back to normal.  And my driveway was repaired late this afternoon,  Now I am happy.
