October 17, 2015. Harper, Texas. Gate Girl.

Ranches and Farms have gates.  The rule is always the same.  If the gate is closed,  close the gate after you go through.  If the gate is open, leave it open.   At our Texas ranch, we have two gates to open and close when driving from the ranch house to our Top House.  Our friend Suzanne quickly observed that she is the fastest person to attend to the gates.   She elected herself and became our gate girl.   And a good one she was.  This is her first visit to the ranch but already she loves the place.  And we like here here too.  It takes her half the time to deal with the gates than it does for me and a quarter of the time it takes for Ken.  So we are happy to have our new Gate Girl in residence.

But this will be short lived because tomorrow, we three get in the car and begin the drive to our home in Mississippi.   Our destination is Henderson, Texas.  The weather will be lovely and we are looking forward to a pleasant six hour drive.   I can guarantee that there will be no gates to open and close on the highway.  Our new Gate Girl will soon be relieved from responsibility.
