October 18, 2015. Henderson, Texas. Another Road Trip.

Ken and I have driven all over North America.   We must have taken several hundred road trips.  And we have enjoyed every one, even when we drove in a VW with no air conditioning.    Today was no exception.   The goal of our journey was to get us from our ranch in Texas to our new home in Mississippi, which will take us two days, thus spending one night on the road.   In addition, my friend Suzanne has once again come from Bethesda to help us with the driving.   Our journey today was splendid.  We three enjoyed the changing topography and the good company.

Ken started off the driving and quit at Johnson City when Suzanne took over.  I sat in the back seat and never budged even though I became a back seat driver when I kept advising Suzanne of the speed limits.

Our lunch was excellent.  As it was Sunday, this local restaurant was full as folks just coming from church.    We were the off balls.  Firstly we did not know everyone and secondly, we did not order the buffet.   But we did as everyone else did, enjoy the piano player.  Ken found the restaurant on his new smart phone.

Small pleasures are important during a journey.  In mid afternoon, Suzanne bought us an ice cream bar, just  to have a bit of a walk around.  Ice cream never tasted so good.  Now we are tucked into our respective rooms in Henderson, the small city  we selected prior to leaving the ranch.  Tomorrow we have less than 5 hours before arriving home.  Again, the weather will be fine and the traffic not terrible.  God is good.
