We were friends in Bethesda, Maryland in the early 70's when our children were small. We have been friends ever since, even though we live in different locations. Four of those families have built homes in Nova Scotia, on Gull Bay. We call ourselves the Gull Bay Group, or the Dwems, after our last names initials. We are our own party and in addition, we help each other out with accommodation when our homes get full.
For instance, when Ken and I arrived, the three older girls went to stay with Gill, using her upstairs bedrooms because we had run out of space. Last summer, Randy and Gaby and their girls stayed in the Ely's guest house, called The Baby Bog because we had a full house. And on Sunday, Mary and Clif will move into our Guest House as their house will be full with family. We help each other out when our homes are full. Living close to good friends is a great pleasure but it also has it's practical side. Pat and Mal were going to stay in the upstairs bedrooms of Mary and Cliff this year when we again were full. We all extend our homes to each other to help out. Living close to good friends definitely has many advantages.
