There is now only one boat on the lake. The house is strangely quiet. Everyone has gone home. But we have had a wonderful July the 4th Holiday weekend at the lake with David and Suzanne, the granddaughters and four of their girl friends from school. Ken and I hung out at home while the girl and David and Suzanne were busy. They swam and they drove the jet skis and they went on the Giddens boat for tubing. David and Suzanne took out kayaks and later Suzanne joined the girls on the boat. It was a wonderfully active day at the lake.
Last evening, friends came for a pot luck supper. Everyone brought meat to grill and something to share. And we watched the impressive fireworks display in our cove together, with all the kids watching from the edge of the water. Last but not least, we ate ice cream smothered with the fresh peaches from Stonewall. Just hanging out together at the lake is a pleasure, but when you have 8 teenaged girls as well it is a special delight just listening to their conversations. The girls are all polite, energetic and helpful. They assisted Suzanne whenever they were asked. The friends of Sarah's have been together at school since the 6th grade. Now they will be heading to a different University starting August.
Our lake house is quiet with no girls and no dogs and no Suzanne and David to look after our needs. But we enjoyed every minute with them over the July the 4th Holiday weekend at the lake.
