January 13, 2019. Playa Royale, Mexico. Snap, Crackle. Pop.

All was calm in our happy little home. The time was almost 10:00 and as Wendy and Ken boarded their plane at 6:00, they were weary and almost ready to go to bed. I was reading e mails and munching crackers prior to taking my Letrozole. All of a sudden, fireworks exploded in the dining room. Sparks flew from an overhead light. Popping sounds came from the light fixture. The smell of burning rubber permeated the room. Wendy came to see what was happening, followed quickly by Ken. I immediately got up to turn off the light. The snap, crackle and pop stopped. I called the front desk who sent maintenance. The repairman came in a few minutes. We wanted to be sure there was nothing else burning. He capped off the wires so all was safe. We urged him not to fix it tonight. We wanted to go to bed. Ken stayed until the workman had left. Wendy had already retired. This morning, the maintenance man returned and fixed the light fixture. Another man painted the ceiling. Now you could not even see that we had fireworks in our dining room. But for a few minutes, life was exciting. I am not in love with fireworks in the dining room. But all is well now.
