January 28, 2019. Playa Royale, Mexico. Whale Watching.

The excursion was a success. They saw lots of whales. Wonderful Wendy and Friend Ken took a whale watching trip with Vallarta Adventures. Their headquarters is just down the road so is easy. The boat was an inflatable with hard floor and benches. Two 200 outboards had the boat speeding along. As Wendy and Ken were first on the boat, they were able to sit on the only bench with a back which was a great blessing. The crew consisted of the driver, who kept in contact with the other boats to track the whales, a naturalist to give information in both English and Spanish and a photographer to take pictures of the whales. After picking up the 6 folks in Nuevo Vallarta, the boat went to the dock in Puerto Vallarta to pick up another dozen. Then they headed out to the whales. They covered a lot of the bay, rom one side to the other. They first spotted a group of male humpbacks who breached when they were close to the boat. Their huge tails came out of the water not 10 feet away. Wendy was so stunned to see the huge beasts that she forgot to pick up her camera. They spotted several other groups of whales. Then they sped to the far side where they saw many mothers and babies. It was exciting. They left the dock at 11:00 and returned at 3:45. With no bathroom facilities in the boat, it was time to get on land. For sure, I will recommend whale watching in Nuevo Vallarta. Wendy and Ken thought it was extraordinary. But I stayed home and cheered.
