June 1, 2019. Canyon Lake, Texas. Dinner Party.

Tonight we were invited for dinner by Debbie and Heath. This was a dinner party in the style of Canyon Lake. The evening was casual yet elegant. Their three children were there along with the twins. Abigail stayed in San Antonio. The kids stayed with the adults all evening. They did not disappear to play a game. They stopped to talk. We had just two families, ten people in all so we sat together at the dining table which was a lot of fun. Debbie and Heath live in Austin so only see the San Antonio family at the lake so when they are both at the lake they have dinner together, kind of taking turns. Once upon a time, they lived in San Antonio and attended the same Episcopal Church as David and Suzanne, as did Bonnie and Wade. Debbie and Heath moved 6 years ago but have kept in touch. Bonnie and Wade bought their lake house 6 years ago and Debbie and Heath have owned on the lake for three years. Their home is a big comfortable house and they like it. It takes them just over an hour to get here from Austin. Dinner was delicious. Cheese and crackers, salami and pickles for appetizer. Perfect for the red wine. Chicken and beef kabobs on the grill with lots of grilled vegetables. Rice and salad too. For dessert we ate grilled fresh local peaches and ice cream. The dinner was casual but elegant. I enjoyed the food and the company. Entertaining Canyon Lake style is a delight.
