July 20, 2020. Western Head, Nova Scotia. Jan and Larry.

Timing is everything. Last summer, they told me they were selling their house in Ottawa and moving to their lovely home in Liverpool, which would be their main home. In addition, after getting settled after their move, they had several trips planned for the Spring and Fall of 2020. Larry worked at The Cultural Center in Ottawa so his plan was to work just until they drove away to Liverpool. And things worked out. Their house sold and settled, Larry quit his job and they got organized in Liverpool, where they proceeded to lead an active social life. Fortunately, this was all done last year. The cultural Center has been closed all 2020 so Larry would not be working. And who knows if the house would have sold. They feel grateful for their timing. Now they are safely in Liverpool where there is no virus in sight. Of course, the trips planned for 2020 have been cancelled which they estimate will save them at least $6,000. But of course they are unable to visit family and friends but at least they have a lovely big home to enjoy. And they are busily stacking wood for the winter. They had no fireplace in their home in Ottawa so during the winter, Larry made a fire every day in the living room so they are getting ready for next winter. Larry and Jan came to visit me on Sunday. They came for a second cup of coffee. And they brought a freshly baked apple pie, which we promptly ate with our coffee. It took us three hours to catch up. I had to ask everything going on in Liverpool and they wanted to know about me. Our conversation was lively and fun. I enjoy their company and was delighted to see them. Now I look forward to our next visit.
