January 12, 2022. Playa Royale, Nuevo Vallarta. The Lost Shoes.

The morning after our mini party at the pool, Wendy could not find her shoes. She looked everywhere in the condo. But no luck. Eventually, we decided that she must have left her shoes beside the chair at the pool. We were so concerned about getting upstairs in the dark that Wendy walked upstairs in her bare feet. And we laughed about it. We had such a giddy, happy time with our food and our drinks that we paid no attention to her shoes. And when we came upstairs, she had gone straight to bed. The sandals were of the Teva type, and well used, but she did not want to lose them. I felt sure that the cleaning people in the morning would have turned the shoes into the lost and found. But I felt sure that the shoes would take a day or two fo appear. And I was right. Every day Wendy and Ken checked for the shoes. They asked at the front desk and they asked at the check in place for the palapas. And they asked the security people. No shoes could be found. Wendy and I both felt that the shoes had just been stuck in some drawer but no one had opened that drawer. Finally the man at the front desk spoke to one of the cleaning folks and directed her where to look which was everywhere. And he told Wendy that he would call with information. Not long after, the phone rang. The shoes were at the front desk. Success at last. It just took three days.
