January 19, 2022. Playa Royale, Nuevo Vallarta. Complications of Sailing.

Getting from Vancouver to Puerto Vallarta is complicated. And I am not thinking of the sailing part. I mean the logistics of leaving one country, Canada, then sailing south through American waters and clearing customs into the US, next doing it all again to get into Mexico. Then at each harbor where they intend to stay the night the must check in with the harbor master to get permission to stay. It is all very complicated. And that is above and beyone sailing the boat, which in itself is a complicated business. But Kenny and Anne were up to the task. They were prepared and were given a passage to Mexico from the authorities at Port Angelis in the US which meant they were free to travel along the coast and stop into any American town without furthur checking. At the first town in Mexico they cleared customs, then stayed in several Mexican harbors on their way south. At Nuevo Vallarta, after docking at their birth at the Marina and checking in officially at the Paradise Village marina, they needed to pay a visit to the Harbor Master to stamp their papers. At that point, they were legal to stay in Nuevo Vallarta. The Harbor Master took his job seriously. He wore a uniform and was professional with his demeaner. At all times, you are required to let the authorities know where you are and what you are doing. It is all very complicated. But they are here!!
