June 30, 2022. Western Head, Nova Scotia. Lemonade in the Garden.

Steve is a wonderful gardener.  He grows everything.  A lovely area close to the house on the back of the house has been planted in flowering bushes and trees, which right now are in full bloom.  Beyond the sitting area is his vegetable and fruit garden.  Anna and I were invited this afternoon to enjoy their flowers while we drank lemonade.  We sat in Muskoka chairs admiring the blossoms and enjoyed sitting outside  and nibbling their goodies.  We arrived at 3:00 and left just before 5:00 which is when Anna heads for time.

Steve and Sue live along the shore from me, just on the other side of the Mitchells home.  They are the most industrious couple I know.  Steve tends the ever expanding garden while Sue preserves everything he grows.  She makes jam and jellies, pickles and relish and every other type of vegetable.  Much of the vegetables she freezes.  Last summer, a bag of vegetables would be left in the garage for us.  Once a week they deliver their produce to friends.  And every time we visit we come home with a bag of jams and pickles.  I enjoy both Sue and Steve, who are both retired but who are both busy as bees.  Our afternoon was a delight.
