July 7, 2022. Western Head, Nova Scotia. The First Fire.

This afternoon, , Mary Frances made a fire in the fire pit down by the water.  This was the first fire since Covid.  Even sitting by the house on the top deck, the fire gave me great pleasure.  First off, Mary Frances is skilled at making fires so it was fun watching her go through the process of gathering the wood and organizing the preparations.  But it was even better when I could hear the crackling of the fire and the smell of the smoke.  Molly was reading so MF had the whole place to herself.  And she loved it.

Mary Frances likes making fires.  The location  for this fire pit is spectacular, right down on the lower deck and close to the water.  The late afternoon was perfect for a fire.  64 degrees and sunny with very little breeze.  Eventually Molly joined Mary Frances by the fire.  I wished I had a long lens camera because the scene with the two longe haired girls working around the fire.   It was a lovely sight for a grandmother's eyes.  Now we have held the first fire of 2022.  I feel sure it will not be the last.
