May 17, 2019. Madison, Mississippi. A Rite of Spring.

Here we were sitting like bumps on a log, waiting for the action to begin. Soon enough, Kate was the first to begin. Next was Mary Frances and finally me. We were all having a pedicure. Along with the blossoms, we have a pedicure together to get us ready for the summer. We have done it ever since we all moved to Mississippi. Because of Molly's school, we three were the only ones to have the pedicure today. But we had fun. And we all have beautiful toes. I was in the middle so we three chattered away while we waited and then again when our feet were being worked on. Almost nothing is better than chatting with your grandchildren with no other adults present. The three people working on us asked the girls lots of questions. So we talked about Kate's graduation and her beginning work. And they could not tell which girl was older. For her graduation, Kate received a cardiology stethoscope from David and Suzanne. She was thrilled and told me about it this morning. And I gave her the choice of either money or a piece of art which she told me today. She chose money, clever child. Next we went to Amerigo for lunch, named the best Italian restaurant in Mississippi. And we talked some more. I had taken a Lyft to the nail place but Mary Frances drove me home, with Kate giving instructions from the back seat. Our morning was delightful, another of our Rites of Spring here in Mississippi.
