March 16, 2022. Madison, Mississippi. The Players Golf Tournament.

Start with the weather. It was horrible for part of the time. and then it got worse. The tournament was played in northern Florida, just outside Jacksonville. Thursday morning started well and a few players completed round one. But just afternoon the heavy rains came down. And it kept on raining. All night and all day on Friday it rained, so no golf could be played. Then when play resumed at noon on Saturday, the winds were strong, up to 45 mph at times. And the first round had to be completed. But they all weathered on with sunshine but winds of 25mph gusting to 45. Conditions were interesting, to say the least. But it was interesting. The other aspect of the tournament was that all the players at the top of the leader board were players I did not know at all. The big guns were all in the tournament but were never in contention to win. So I got to watch lots of young players play golf. Of course, everyone playing is a good golfer in order to be in the tournament. But they seldon win. The game finally ended on Monday late afternoon when a young Australian took the big prize, an over 3 Million dollar cheque. I watch a bit of golf but this tournament was one of the most interesting and entertaining that I have ever seen. It was great sport.
