March 25, 2022. Madison, Mississippi. Molly.

On April 7, Molly will have surgery on her knee. This week she turned quickly in her bedroom and her knee went pop. And it hurt. Her knee was XRayed immediately and fortunately she had no broken bones. But on Wednesday when she had an MRI, they discovered that she did not have tight ligaments so for the past year, her knee would pop out of place. But then all would be well after a few days of rest. Every time it happened it was a little bit worse. Now she must get it repaired properly. At the moment she is wearing a big brace designed to not allow her knee to bend. And she is using crutches, although she is allowed to stand on that leg. Next weekens Molly will be in the school play. She is Ursula in the Little Mermaid. Fortunately she will wear a long dress. Then the week after she will have the surgery. It will be done via a small hole and a tube and she will have general anethetic. For two weeks she must wear the immobolizer brace. Then she starts phsical therapy three times a week for a month, followed twice a week. Fortunately, Molly has a good spirit with the whole thing. She hopes that the surgery will end her troubles with her one knee. It is unfortunate to be forced to have surgery on your knee when you are in the 8th grade. But Molly is correct that it is better to get it fixed now before it gets any worse. We all wish her well.
